Most recorders only pause. Once you stop, the next recording is a new file. Resumable is built for conversations and ideas that don’t fit into one take: stop whenever you need, close the app, and resume the same memo hours or days later. Each segment stays part of one memo, and playback, transcripts, and sharing treat it as a single recording.
True Stop and Resume
Open any stopped memo and tap Resume. Resumable records a new segment and keeps it inside the same memo. When you share the audio, the segments are stitched into one file.
Crash-Safe Recording
Audio in progress is protected as it records. If the app or your iPhone is interrupted, reopen Resumable and it recovers what it can. If a segment can’t be recovered, the memo stays in your library and marks the missing segment clearly.
Lock Screen Controls
A Live Activity keeps the recording on your Lock Screen, so you don’t have to go back to the app:
- Bookmark the moment you’re hearing
- Pause and resume a recording
- Stop when you’re done
On-Device Transcription
Create a transcript in your device language without sending audio anywhere. Tap any timed word to jump to that moment in playback, then copy the text or share it.
Waveforms and Precise Playback
See a live waveform while you record and the full shape of a memo when you play it back. Skip back or forward 15 seconds and change the playback speed.
Bookmarks with Notes
Mark important moments while recording, during playback, or from the Lock Screen. Add an optional note to any bookmark and jump straight back to it later.
Folders and Search
Organize memos into folders and find anything fast:

Share Your Way
Share a memo as one audio file, copy its transcript, or share the transcript as text or a .txt file. Everything goes through the standard iOS share sheet, only to the destination you choose.

Recordings, transcripts, bookmarks, and folders stay on your iPhone. Transcription runs on the device. No accounts, no logins, no analytics, no ads. We can’t see your recordings, and we never want to.
WHAT YOU NEED.
- iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. Newer versions of iOS give you the best transcription experience.
- Microphone access to record, and Speech Recognition access to create transcripts. Resumable asks for both on first launch.
- On iOS 26, Apple may download a free on-device speech model for your language the first time you transcribe.
- For Lock Screen controls, keep Live Activities turned on in iOS Settings → Resumable.
On the App Store, look for Resumable Recorder. Once installed, it appears on your Home Screen simply as Resumable.
